If you loose the steady image before you do all that, just press and hold the two buttons again and try to get that cursor over a good display resolutuon, then click, wait a few seconds, and whalah, hp monitor will be colorfully filled with your mac mini output, with no flickering,Ī few more thoughts: I don't think this had anything to do with my success, but before I tried all this I held down the hp's on off switch for 30-60 seconds to "reset"the monitor - something I read in another thread. Also, if you are having trouble actually seeing what resolution your cursor is on during that precious, yet brief flicker-less moment just try clicking any resolution, with the exception of 1680x1050, they all work. If you click one and nothing happens, it may just be because a dialogue box popped up with a warning about things not displaying properly if you switch resolutions, just press your keyboard's return/enter key which should hopefully register as having pressed "ok" in the dialogue box. Once you've gotten any resolution to work, you can then see enough to test the others to find the best one for you. ONE POSSIBLE PROBLEM THOUGH: While my monitor now displays clear, vivid images at 1600x900 (and 720p and 1080p) none seem to be displaying text with the crispness I would expect - everything is perfectly readable, just a tiny bit fuzzy (just the text not the images). Is there some sort of text setting I can adjust? Or is it just that this monitor really needs 1680x1050 settings for perfect text crispness? If so, I may still be tempted to buy the adapters described above. This would help with a disk problem, but not with an improperly configured display problem. You'll see a whole bunch of text fly byīy default, your hard drive is mounted as read-only. To change this.Ģ) Type "/sbin/fsck -fy" (without the quotes) This will run a File System ChecK, -Force run, -answer Yes to all questionsģ) That should report back something like "Macintosh HD is OK!" or whatever. Now that we've determined the hard drive is clean, let's mount it read/write (However, because you don't have a disk problem, this is most likely just a formality before you can mount your hard drive) If it doesn't say your hard drive is OK, then run the command again until it does. This will Mount, -Write access, -Update the already mounted filesystem /ĥ) Figure out your short user name by typing "ls /Users/" you'll need it in the next step. You'll see "Shared" and some number of other users. Choose the one that belongs to your account. This ought to fill in the rest of the line with the filename, if it doesn't, post here and I'll update the instructions accordingly We want to delete the ".plist" file, where the Xs represent your computer's hardware MAC address.Ħ) Type "rm /Users/>/Library/Preferences/ByHost/"> If there's only one other one there, well, that makes it easy. #Fix hp w2207h mac with switchresx update This will Shutdown, -Restart type down, at time Now. Q: I've defined a new resolution and rebooted, and the system boots with a black screen.
